It’s sudden news that the Australian Higher
Commissioner to Pakistan Margaret Adamson has declared that her appointing at
Islamabad is over. Her position as a high commissioner started in 2015.
Before that, she has worked as an Ambassador in Poland and Cambodia.
She talks about the impact of the relationship
between Australia and Pakistan and how it will grow throughout the years.
She expressed her thoughts in a meeting at Pakistan
Institute of Development Studies. She mentions the relations between the two
countries by saying, “Our people-to-people links continue to grow with more
than 60,000 Pakistani Australians who make a wonderful contribution to our
vibrant and diverse culture. Pakistani Australians make up the largest of
Australia’s Muslim communities.
She also adds in a strong comment that we can
resonate with “Our cricketing ties have always been a unifying passion for our
two countries.”
She discreetly adds, “More than 13,000 Pakistanis
are studying in Australia, acquiring skills and qualifications to pursue their
dreams and contribute to Pakistan’s development. We have an active alumni the network comprising private as well as thousands of scholarship awardees who
have since the 1950s benefitted from Australia’s longstanding support programs
for building up Pakistan’s human capital.”
Australian higher commission Islamabad –
Contributions for Pakistan:
Ms. Adamson has worked for the water conservation in
Pakistan as well and wishes that both the countries can strengthen their bond
to properly resolve
this crisis. So, her focus has been water
management as well as improving the climate and agriculture.
“Glad to meet Chairman @ndmapk to discuss
Australia’s longstanding partnership with Pakistan 🇵🇰
in disaster response and preparedness as well as in water and agricultural sectors
since the 1980s” she tweets of the joint efforts.

Even the NDMA Chairman acknowledged the effort and
described that Pakistan and Australia can actually research and work for this
disastrous areas.
Many of us forget about the agricultural crisis in
our country but we are glad that there are attempts made in order to improve
things!
We can easily admit that the Australian higher
commission Islamabad is in the hands of a trustful individual.
She even made sure that their project focuses on the
economic conditions of women as well. So they can provide for the country and
their families.
She tweeted, ‘Great to be in Lahore for discussions
from the vibrant arts scene in Pakistan
cultural capital to efforts to combat trafficking & abuse of children &
girls, regional & economic issues. A shout out to Honorary Consul for
hosting business community members with links to Australia”

She also adds, “Our aid project in Pakistan focuses
on women’s economic empowerment which strengthens economic growth and increases
the well-being of families and communities. Australia and Pakistan are also
working together on human rights challenges as current members of the United
Nations Human Rights Council,”
Ms. Adamson is certain that Pakistan would be able
to bounce back from the crisis that it is stuck in. But she believes that the government will have to make an effort for hefty decisions in order for a
change to occur. She claims, "I am confident that Pakistan has the
capacity to reach that milestone as a prosperous, open, tolerant and inclusive
upper middle-income country”
On a lighter note:
The High Commissioner thinks that the
relationship between Pakistan and Australia is a lot of time before the independence
of Pakistan.
According to ARY News, Ms. Adamson mentions at a
meeting in Karachi that the relations of Australia with Staff College Quetta go
back to as far as 1910!
She is Grateful for Cricket.
Cricket has assembled the countries to become one because
of their common interest. So, she believes that cricket really has a lot of
impacts, especially PSL. It invites international cricket to be back in
Pakistan.
She is glad for the fact that Pakistani’s treat
Australia as their second home.
Moreover, she has wished the Muslims
everywhere, including Pakistan, a Happy Eid as well!
She wrote a heartfelt letter of the length of about
two paragraphs where she wishes Muslim families not only an Eid Mubarak but
also includes that we should ‘recommit ourselves’ this Eid. She talks about
Pakistani Australians and their importance. And wishes for a long lasting
friendship for the two countries. This is the detailed message she sent:
“I send my good wishes to Muslims around the world,
in Australia and here in Pakistan and across the South Asian region, as they
celebrate the festival of Eid-ul-Fitr. As we celebrate this Eid we can also
recommit ourselves to acting with respect, fairness, equality, and compassion
towards all, regardless of cultural background, religious beliefs, ethnicity or
gender.
For more than 600,000 Australian Muslims and the
almost 62,000 Pakistani Australians, who make a valued contribution to our
national life, Eid is a truly special time. Islam has become the second most
common religion in Australia and Pakistani Australians make up the largest of
Australia’s Muslim communities. Growing people-to-people links, our shared
Commonwealth heritage and passion for cricket form the basis of the enduring
friendship between our two nations. May this Eid be a peaceful and joyous
celebration for all who celebrate this joyous occasion.”
Her
utmost efforts for the well-being of the Pakistani economy as well as her work
to ensure relationships between the two countries, will not be forgotten. Furthermore,
she has linked the countries closest attributes (cricket) to formulate a just
bond so that there is hope for a successful healthy connection.
Here
is her latest tweet regarding her posting and future relations. It says, “Thank
you @pidepk @zartajgulwazir for inviting me to speak about Australia’s
relationship with Pakistan & my impressions from my 4 years in this
important country as I come to the end of my posting here. I am confident
relations between Australia & Pakistan will continue to grow”
